Whether your favorite sport is basketball, football or baseball, whether you like soccer kickball or volleyball, I’m sure you have at one point dreamed about playing for your favorite sports team. I mean how cool would it be to playing alongside the Big Ticket Kevin Garnett? Have you ever wished just once you could catch passes from Tom Brady? Well, that may not exactly be realistic, but the rush you get from playing a team sport is almost just as great… almost.

Meet New Friends

It doesn’t matter what sport you want to play or how competitive you want it to be. Not an NCAA Athlete? No problem, Bridgewater State does a great job of offering a whole list of different sports and activities for those of us who don’t have time or (sadly) the talent for the BSU Bears. By taking advantage of at least one of these event,s you are bound to meet a big variety of people, and who knows? Maybe some could become your closest friends.

Get Active

Sometimes it’s hard to stay fit and active in college. We, as students, are bogged down with homework, studying, clubs, works, and personal lives, but it is important to add some physical activity into our lives- even if it’s just once a week. I’m not saying you have to go be a gym nut and train like an NFL player, but it definitely doesn’t hurt to get fit and achieve peace of mind.

Teamwork

An underrated part of a person’s people skills comes from sports. When you’re young and on a sports team, you are immediately thrown into a world of differing personalities and opinions and you must quickly learn how to deal with it. Being on a team also drives home many skills a person would benefit from having such as leadership, the ability to work with others to achieve a collective goal, great worth ethic, etc… All of these things can be learned just by having fun with your friends on a sports team!

Even if you aren’t obsessed with sports, or the most competitive person alive, you should still check out what BSU has to offer. There are many great chances and opportunities to meet people, develop character skills and have fun!

Are you a part of any BSU sports or intramural teams? Are there any sports you wish were at BSU that aren’t?
