My Winter Break: From Here to Syracuse and Back

Have you ever seen Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase- the Christmas comedy filled with festivity, absurdity and plenty of laughs?!

My break was EXACTLY like that. That’s not true. I’m exaggerating a little; there were a couple differences- there were no cats wrapped up in presents and my cousin definitely didn’t dump a septic tank in my yard. Other than that, I did have plenty of laughs, and like Clark Griswold, I was forced by other drivers on the highway to accumulate severe road rage. It was their fault.

Travel

I was beyond excited to see my family in Syracuse, NY, but the long road trip made me tired and I accidentally slept through Christmas dinner (I’m really sorry, guys).  At any rate, my time spent in the ‘Cuse was vital to my sanity because I hadn’t seen my mother, big sis’ and best friend in far too long! Nothing compares to seeing the best people in the whole world after a hectic, drawn out semester.

On the Cape, I have approximately zero channels.  In NY, I’ve got every channel possible- plus On Demand and DVR! I sound insane, but to give you an example, my BFF and I refuse to go without watching A Crime Against WomenEvery Man in the World is Horrible or any quality film played on the Lifetime Movie Network.

Although my brother couldn’t be there, he sent us all gifts from Merry Old England! My Ma and I made cookies: I put the Hershey’s kisses on the peanut butter blossom cookies.

Big Sis and I refused to participate in any puzzle-making, yet found many fun alternatives.  As usual, we ended up on the Indian ’Rez because guess what: there are NO taxes on the reservation.  You can buy whatever you want (basically, if you disregard the rest of the cost of your purchase, and we do)!

Back to New England

After leaving my fam’ and getting back to Cape Cod, I started working again, chilled with my cat Rufus, did things, and did some other stuff, too. Wow, it’s a good thing I went to NY, or I would have nothing to write about. I hope everyone had a great vacation, and let’s milk 2012 for all it’s worth!

Did you have a relaxing winter break? Are you looking forward to 2012?
